Gamebryo and morpheme Integration Gives Developers Unparalleled Control of Character Animation

Emergent’s Popular Multiplatform Game Engine and NaturalMotion’s Robust Animation Middleware Now Work in Unison

OXFORD, U.K. and CALABASAS, Calif. – Jan. 8, 2009

NaturalMotion, the animation technology company behind the euphoria engine, today announced that its morpheme animation middleware is now tightly integrated with Gamebryo, Emergent Game Technologies’ popular multi-platform game engine. Developers who use Gamebryo and morpheme together will be able to take advantage of a streamlined animation pipeline, from asset creation to implementation.

morpheme is robust animation middleware designed to give developers and animators unprecedented creative control over the look of their final in-game animation by allowing them to author and preview blends, blend trees and transition graphs in real time. Since its launch in 2007, morpheme has seen rapid adoption in the games industry, including customers such as Bioware, Eidos and Disney.

Emergent’s Gamebryo™ is the only engine used worldwide for titles in more than a dozen different genres for both console and PC platforms. Gamebryo’s wide adoption has been made possible by an open framework into which internally and externally created tech can be added. This allows the rapid introduction of new capabilities such as the integration of the morpheme engine and toolchain that provide developers and animators direct control over character animation in their games. NaturalMotion’s morpheme strengthens the already powerful and highly scalable Gamebryo animation system that allows developers to quickly build immersive 3D environments.

“Emergent’s partner program is designed to leverage Gamebryo’s flexibility so our developers will be able to take advantage of numerous high-quality middleware solutions through our certified integrations, helping our customers save time and risk,” said John Austin, Emergent’s VP of Partner Programs. “NaturalMotion’s morpheme:Connect gives our developers the ability to more easily create realistic character animations. NaturalMotion is a proven leader in the industry and we are excited to see what our developers create through this technology partnership.”

“NaturalMotion’s goal with morpheme is to provide developers with the most comprehensive, intuitive and cost-effective animation middleware possible,” said Christian Staack, VP of Sales for North America at NaturalMotion. “Gamebryo offers developers benefits that are very much in line with that goal, and the engine’s widespread adoption among developers of all platforms makes it important for morpheme and Gamebryo to work seamlessly together. Thanks to the flexibility of both products, we’ve been able to smoothly integrate the technologies.”

CES 2009: Nyko Technologies Unveils Full CES Product Lineup

10 01 2009

The Wand, Charge Station EX and Kama Charge Kit Make Their Debut

LOS ANGELES – Jan. 8, 2009

The premier videogame accessories manufacturer, Nyko Technologies®, today debuted its full lineup of new products at the Consumer Electronics Show 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to the previously announced Metal Pedal™ and Charge Station™ Quad, the following lineup of brand new videogame accessories for the Nintendo® Wii™ will be on display for an exclusive hands-on demo:

The Wand™
The Nyko Wand is the world’s most advanced alternative to the Wii Remote™ and has been designed from the ground up for superior functionality, comfort, and value. The new controller maintains all of the control functions Wii gamers expect with full motion-sensing capability, pointer functionality, vibration feedback, and a built-in speaker, while offering a variety of new features.

The Wand contains Nyko’s all-new Trans-Port™ technology, which enables control and vibration feedback to be electrically replicated on a compatible attachment accessory, providing for faster and more accurate input response. Current attachments made for the Wii Remote can only access buttons through use of mechanical triggers and provide no vibration feedback. One of the many potential uses of Trans-Port technology is a pistol grip that connects to the Wand and electrically replicates key action buttons, providing controls not currently accessible with attachments for the Wii Remote. In addition, enlarged 1 and 2 buttons make the Wand an exceptional choice for classic gaming control when turned sideways, complete with Nyko’s signature rubberized battery cover to ensure maximum comfort and grip.

The Wand will be available at select retail stores nationwide in April, 2009.

Charge Station™ EX
The Charge Station EX is the latest iteration of North America’s best-selling third party videogame accessory, the Charge Station™ for Wii. Also a 2-port Wii Remote charging and storage solution, the Charge Station EX adds LED battery level indicators to the front of the device and a new sleek look. Now users will be able to determine not only when a controller is charging but also the charge level of the battery based on the LED indicators.

The Charge Station™ EX will be available at stores nationwide in April, 2009 and will retail for an MSRP of $34.99.

Kama Charge Kit™
The Kama Charge Kit is an all-in-one charging solution for the Wii. The device simultaneously stores and charges both the Wii Remote™ and the Kama controllers in one convenient unit. Included with the Kama Charge Kit is a Kama Wireless Controller, a rechargeable battery pack, and a rubberized battery cover for both the Wii Remote and Kama controllers to allow for seamless drop-in charging.

The Kama Charge Kit will be available at stores nationwide in April, 2009.

New Trailer Released for Vae Victis

10 01 2009

NEW YORK – Jan. 8, 2009

Paradox Interactive released a new trailer today for Vae Victis, the expansion pack for the PC title Europa Universalis: Rome. The trailer showcases the new character oriented features which grace the latest expansion to the award-winning grand strategy series.

To view the trailer, please click on the following link: http://www.youtube.com/user/paradoxplaza

Highlighted in the trailer, the Character Overview Screen allows control of all aspects of character management for all characters within a player’s domain. Important characters can now conspire and plot the downfall of the established ruling bodies, while those in power can reward the loyal and prominent with titles and roles of employment to keep them in positions of power. Those who show too much corruption, ineptitude or disloyalty can be removed from their positions. However, resentment may stir in the Senate or among rebellious factions if prominent characters are treated with disdain.

Loyal governors can be given a free hand to rule their territories as they see fit. If required, they can be reinforced with regional armies to maintain order, but be warned lest they turn against you and use those very forces to usurp the current government.

The expansion is currently available exclusively via digital download from GamersGate and Direct2Drive with a suggested retail price of $9.99. Vae Victis requires Europa Universalis: Rome to play.
